The app can remind you to take your medications, so a busy day does not mean a missed dose.

Add a medication

  1. Open the Medical ID app and open the Profile tab.
  2. In Medications, tap Dose reminders.
  3. Tap Add medication.
  4. Enter the name, and the dose and instructions if you want them.
  5. Under Times, tap Add time for each dose of the day.
  6. Under Days, pick the days. Leave all of them off for every day.
  7. Save. Reminders start from the next due time.

The first time, the app asks for your consent to store health details. Tick the box and tap Agree and continue.

How reminders arrive

  • On your phone at each dose time. Tap Alarm settings to choose between Alarm, Persistent alarm, which keeps ringing or repeating until you deal with it, and Standard notification.
  • Snooze gives you 15 more minutes.
  • By email as a backup, at each dose time. This is on for every new medication. To turn it off for one medication, open it and switch off Email reminder as backup.

Reminder times stay in the time zone your phone was in when you added the medication, so travelling does not shift them. If you move to another time zone for good, delete the medication and add it again.

Marking doses taken

Tap Mark taken when you have had a dose. It is recorded in your health log as Medication Taken, and listed under Dose history. This gives you a simple record of what was taken and when, useful for you and your doctor. It works offline too, and syncs when you are back online. See Health log basics.

Changing or stopping

  • Edit a medication at any time. Future reminders follow the new times.
  • Switch Active off to pause its reminders without deleting it.
  • Delete a medication to stop its reminders completely.
