The point of a Medical ID is simple: if you cannot speak for yourself, your card or bracelet speaks for you.
What happens in an emergency
- A responder, such as a paramedic, first aider or passer-by, spots your card or bracelet.
- They scan the QR code with their own phone camera, or tap the product with their phone. No app or sign-in is needed.
- Your emergency page opens in their browser. They can make the text larger, switch to high contrast, and tap to call your emergency contacts.
Why it works when you can't help
- Your phone is not involved. The page is stored on our servers, not on your device. It works if your phone is dead, locked, lost, or at home.
- You don't need to be awake. Nothing needs unlocking or approving on your side.
- The responder only needs a phone with a camera and an internet connection, which is what almost everyone carries.
You stay in control
- You choose which sections appear on your page at all. You can also set a PIN, so that only your name, photo and emergency contacts show until the PIN is entered. See Choose what your emergency page shows.
- Changes you make in the app go live immediately. The printed QR code never needs replacing when your details change.
- Each time someone opens your page, you get a notification and a record of it in the app. See Scanning a QR code: what responders see.
